Welcome to Jarrowandhebburnonline, the local website that has been developed to be the portal for anyone who would like to find out anything about our wonderful and unique area.

Town HallJarrow and Hebburn is recognised as an area of great strengths drawn from the involvement of the people in our community. From the 1930,s depression that instigated the Jarrow March in 1936  to when we saw the end of Steel works, Monkton Cokeworks near Hebburn, Shipbuilding and Ship repair Yards such as Palmers , community strength has always prevailed.

The photograph above shows the former St Bede Parish Centre. Originally built in 1923 as offices for the Jarrow and Hebburn Co-op  until there demise in the 70's, it was then used as St Bede Parish Centre  until finally becoming an office block once again .
Jarrow Police Station
Jarrow Police Station
Records show that in 2006 Jarrow Police Station was no longer an operational Police Station but was used by the neighbourhood policing team and others services such as youth offending.

Changing Infrastructure
Nowadays , although some of the infrastructure may have changed the strong passion for our area still remains intact. New factories, park lands, modern housing and Hi Tech facilities are all around us. In 2008, South Tyneside Council selected  a consortium consisting  of Spenhill, Bellway Homes and Gentoo to develop a new town centre for Hebburn and Newtown. An exhibition in the Mountbatten Centre was held showing the scheme proposals. Your comments on Hebburn town centre were taken on board.

Within this website we maintain a directory of our local businesses. This enables visitors and residents to search for the local services that are key to our local community.

Amongst our community groups we have Jarrow Hebburn Local History Society, Jarrow based South Tyneside Cage Bird Society, Hebburn Senior Citizens Thursday Club.

Information from the community is the best source, so please contact us with information and pictures that will help lead to fantastic documented history of Jarrow and Hebburn.
